PetOS is operated by Three Pixels Pty Ltd ("we", "us", or "our"). For any privacy-related queries, contact us at team@petos.app.

This policy covers the PetOS mobile application (available on iOS and Android) and the PetOS website at petos.app.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Account Information

• Email address (for authentication and account management)
• Name (optional, if provided during sign-up)
• Profile photo (optional)

1.2 Pet Information

• Pet names, species, breeds, and other details you provide
• Pet photos you upload
• Health and wellness data (weight, exercise, medical records)
• Activity logs and notes

1.3 Usage Data

• App usage statistics and crash reports
• Device information (device type, operating system version)
• In-app session analytics via Microsoft Clarity: how screens are used (taps, scrolls, navigation). Text you type is masked and never recorded, and this can be switched off at any time in Menu → Settings → "Share anonymous usage data"

1.4 Website Data

When you visit petos.app, we use Google Analytics to collect data such as page views, referral sources, and store-badge clicks. In regions where consent is required (EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland), analytics only runs after you accept the cookie banner; declining keeps the site fully functional without analytics cookies.

2. Legal Bases for Processing

We process your personal information based on the following legal grounds:

• Contract Performance: To provide and maintain the PetOS app functionality as part of our service to you
• Consent: Where you have given us explicit consent, such as for optional notifications
• Legitimate Interests: To improve our services, fix bugs, and ensure security, where these interests do not override your rights

Under the GDPR (if you are in the EU/EEA), you have additional rights including data portability, restriction of processing, and the right to object. Under the CCPA (if you are a California resident), you have the right to know what data we collect and to request its deletion. Under the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), we ensure your data is collected and handled fairly and in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the PetOS app functionality
• Sync your data across your devices
• Enable sharing of pet information with family members and carers you authorize
• Send important notifications about your account or the app
• Improve app performance and fix bugs
• Respond to your support requests

4. Data Storage and Security

4.1 Where Your Data is Stored

Your data is securely stored using industry-standard cloud infrastructure providers for:

• Secure database storage for pet information, activity logs, and user data
• Authentication and user account management
• App hosting and delivery

4.2 Security Measures

• Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
• Encryption at rest: Your data is encrypted when stored in our databases
• Access controls: Only you and users you explicitly authorize can access your pet information
• Secure authentication: We use industry-standard OAuth authentication

5. Data Sharing

5.1 Sharing Within the App

You can choose to share your pet information with:

• Co-owners — Full access to view and edit pet information
• Carers — Limited access to view and log basic activities

You control all sharing permissions and can revoke access at any time.

5.2 Third-Party Service Providers

We use trusted third-party service providers to operate our app, including providers for:

• Authentication and user management
• Cloud database and storage
• App hosting and updates

These service providers have access to your data only to perform services on our behalf and are obligated to protect your information.

5.3 Advertising & Analytics

We do not:

• Sell your personal information to third parties
• Use your data for advertising purposes
• Display advertisements in the app
• Share your data with data brokers or advertising networks

We do use privacy-focused analytics services as data processors, solely to understand how PetOS is used and to improve it: Google Analytics on the website (consent-gated in the EU/EEA, UK, and Switzerland) and Microsoft Clarity in the app (anonymous session analytics with typed text masked, opt-out available in Menu → Settings). These providers process this data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own advertising purposes.

6. Cookies & Tracking

The PetOS website uses essential cookies required for the site to function, plus Google Analytics cookies to measure site usage. In the EU/EEA, UK, and Switzerland, analytics cookies are only set after you accept the cookie banner, and you can decline without losing any functionality. We do not use advertising cookies. The PetOS mobile app does not use cookies; its usage analytics (Microsoft Clarity) can be disabled in Menu → Settings → "Share anonymous usage data".

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Update

You can access and update your personal information and pet data at any time through the app.

7.2 Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by:

1. Opening the PetOS app
2. Going to Menu → Account
3. Tapping "Delete Account"

When you delete your account, all your data is permanently removed from our servers.

7.3 Data Export

If you would like to export your data, please contact us at team@petos.app.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

• All personal data is immediately deleted from our active databases
• Backup copies are permanently deleted within 14 days
• We may retain anonymized usage statistics for app improvement

9. Children's Privacy

PetOS is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this privacy policy and applicable data protection laws.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Sending a notification through the app for significant changes
